Yoga symbols

Yoga symbols are simply called as the yoga postures. Practicing the yoga symbols has lot of beneficial effects over the body. Large varieties of symbols are there and some examples include Mudra, OM, Yantra, Yoga deities, Chakras and Mandala. Yoga symbols have the deeper meanings like creation, rebirth, sun, beauty, purity, divine, prosperity and eternity. Yoga symbols are the important part of Hindu mythology.

The brief history of yoga is quite interesting. The rishi’s developed the yoga asana and postures by watching the animals, birds and other creatures. The yoga symbols are named after animals, plants and other forms of life. The asanas and positions also resemble them.

Some of the asanas are: Padmasana –lotus posture, Suryasana – the salute to the sun, Simhasana- posture of lion, Matsyasana- the fish posture and Bakasana- crane posture. Yoga symbols are mostly used during meditation, and Pranayama. They balance the mind and emotions there by providing greater clarity to the mind. OM is the most powerful symbol of yoga. The primodial sound that resonate the whole universe is OM. It is connected to the Ajna chakra the third eye region that lies between the eyes.
